Unbelievably hot. We passed through a town called Vanderhoof where we saw a wildfire. Turns out the town was evacuated a few hours after we passed through. Apparently, there are currently 111 forest fires in British Columbia right now. The extremely dry air and heat are partially to blame.
We decided to stop at one of the many Provincial Parks with a lake for swimming. The water in this lake was significantly warmer than the last one, maybe 70F? It felt wonderful. This lake was big enough for boats and water skiing. Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.
We stopped in Prince George for the night.
We needed a break from the oppressive heat and we wanted to do a few mechanical things to the RV. The Canadian Tire was still open Sunday evening when we arrived so we set up an appt for Monday morning at 9:30am. We're getting our tires rotated & balanced (front end shimmy at 50-60mph), oil changed and AC belt tightened so we can use the AC in the front cab while driving. The belt screeches as it is now. We def need the air conditioning.
Prince George is a fairly large town with all of the national chains represented.
We found a little park by the river with shade where we could cool off a bit and relax.
We spent the night in the Home Depot parking lot, adjacent to the Canadian Tire where our appointment for 9:30 am was.
This is where we are now, Canadian Tire in Prince George, BC, waiting for our repairs to be completed.
