Leaving Minot, ND, it totally worked out that we would be staying in the small town of Winnebago, MN. We've noticed a number of small towns in Canada, ND & MN, have very small RV "parks." Managed by the town itself, these small campsites don't have a lot of extras. They are very affordable though. Usually $20 for full electric/water/sewer, maybe a picnic table, maybe not. There's no "host" around if you have problems with something. These towns aren't big enough for a hotel, so these small campgrounds serve that purpose. You don't really find them off the big interstates though. Anyway, we stayed in the town of Winnebago's campground. It was very nice and even had a shower house with toilets. They don't advertise these sites much so you have to hunt online.

After a nice quiet and air conditioned night, we awoke fresh and ready to continue. We headed south and east via the interstate highways, Nashville was right in our path.

From Winnebago, MN, we headed on into Iowa and started back on the Interstates a bit. We're running out of money and we're anxious to get back. Besides, it's really hot. We stayed the night at a Flying J Travel Plaza near Cedar Rapids, IA. Uneventful, except for a big thunderstorm at 7am. From Iowa we drove through Illinois and Missouri.
In MO, we stopped at Rend Lake at a public swimming beach to cool off. It was in the 90's both outside and inside the RV. The front cab stays cool with the AC on, but it's not powerful enough to cool off the whole RV. In the back it's reaching temps in the upper 90's. We parked in the shade and had a nice cooling dip in the lake.
The bugs on the front of our RV are kind of amazing.
In Kentucky we found a wonderful Army Corps of Engineers spot on Barkley Lake, Eureeka, KY.
