Cedar Key, June 13/14

I've been wanting to visit Cedar Key for a while now. It's apparently the Second oldest city in Florida. St. Augustine being the oldest, of course.  click on the image above to open in Google Maps I contacted my parents over in St Pete Beach and invited them to join us. We had reserved a campsite 2 miles outside of Cedar Key and they reserved a 1 bedroom studio in town.  I was driving our RV, and stopped at a gas station a little over an hour into our trip west. We filled up. The RV would not start :-( A quick call to my AMAZING mechanic friend up in Virginia. He figured it must be the starter after asking us a few questions. He told us how to try starting it and it worked like a charm!!! He also told us that his trick may not work again... We made the tough decision to head back to our mechanic in St Augustine, pick up my car, and drive all the way back to Cedar Key and still meet my parents. A lot later, but we'd still meet them. The RV made it back to St Augustine with

Memorial Day Weekend in NE Florida, May 2021

We made reservations for Memorial Day weekend to stay at Huguenot Memorial Park. It's in the very far northeastern part of the state where the St John's river meets the Atlantic Ocean.  click on the image above to open in Google Maps By booking way in advance, we were able to reserve one of the coveted "private beach" spots. We had our own little slice of beach on the St John's river.  We missed the ferry by 5 mins! and had to drive all the way around :-( We got there just before it got dark. Beautiful evening with a nice breeze to keep the bugs away. The Atlantic Beach, still within Huguenot Memorial Park, is VERY popular, especially for Memorial Day. It's a drive-on beach and people started lining up early in the morning to get in. We know because we left the park pretty early to go for our Horseback ride on the beach! We reserved it well in advance, about a month or so. Adam hadn't really been on a horse before. I hadn't been on a horse in 30 years

March 19, 2021, back in St. Augustine!

We got home at around 12:30am. Click the image above to open in Google Maps We left New Orleans and headed east on Interstate 10. The humidity crept in and again we chased behind an eastern moving line of thunder storms. Luckily, it stayed in front of us.  We saw a lot more water. We finally crossed into Florida. The panhandle is very long. We needed to go all the way to the east coast of Florida. It was dark by the time we made it home to St. Augustine.  The next morning, we got up and went to our favorite coffee place: So nice to wake up at home! Our next task was to take our RV to get a badly needed oil change: All set! Until next time. Who knows where we'll end up.

New Orleans, LA March 18, 2021

We crossed into Louisiana.  Click on the image above to open in Google Maps The landscape changed a lot as we headed east. The desert landscape started having more tall trees. We could also feel the humidity start to increase.  So much road construction work We found a Buc-ees, yay! We were driving behind a huge weather front. We were both heading east. Luckily, we did not catch up to it.  We are the blue dot off to the left. We only saw a few sprinkles.  Sorry, a little blurry. We finally made it after a 45 min traffic jam on I10.  We pulled into Jude Travel Park . We hooked up and fell asleep quickly.  Can you see little Sheila's face? We woke up to a crisp and cool morning with bright sunshine and around 50F. We decided to attempt to drive to the French Quarter about 5 miles away. I know, probably crazy with our RV. Yep! we found a big enough parking spot right outside of a little cafe! We left New Orleans for the last leg of our trip back to St Augustine. We should be pulling
