57 - July 29 & 30, 2018, Prince George, BC

You can always find us in real-time with Garmin InReach Unbelievably hot. We passed through a town called Vanderhoof where we saw a wildfire. Turns out the town was evacuated a few hours after we passed through. Apparently, there are currently 111 forest fires in British Columbia right now. The extremely dry air and heat are partially to blame. We decided to stop at one of the many Provincial Parks with a lake for swimming. The water in this lake was significantly warmer than the last one, maybe 70F? It felt wonderful. This lake was big enough for boats and water skiing. Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. We stopped in Prince George for the night. We needed a break from the oppressive heat and we wanted to do a few mechanical things to the RV. The Canadian Tire was still open Sunday evening when we arrived so we set up an appt for Monday morning at 9:30am. We're getting our tires rotated & balanced (front end shimmy at 50-60mph)

Hyder, AK & Stewart, BC We enjoyed our time here in both of these towns. You can always find us in real-time with Garmin This is a little bar where you can drink a shot of Everclear and get "Hyder-ized" - we chose not to do this ;-)   We drove to the "Wildlife Viewing Area," just outside of Hyder. We got there in the evening around 9pm, they close at 10pm. Apparently, we just missed 4 black bear fishing in the creek. There's a nice boardwalk set up so that you can view the bears or wolves from above.  There's also a US Forestry guy with a loaded shotgun, ready to fire in an emergency. We did see lots of big salmon splashing in the very shallow creek. I'm afraid they're hard to spot in the photos though. We also saw a lot of evidence of bears trampling the brush along the edge of the creek. We also saw a beaver in an adjacent creek dragging a huge branch to his dam. We spent the nig

Our route since we left Tuk ( and on Google Maps ) You can see our real-time current location with Garmin InReach here Leaving Whitehorse via the Cassiar Highway into British Columbia and on to Hyder, Alaska We continued south out of Whitehorse after filling everything and dumping everything. By the way, excellent coffee very close to the Walmart parking lot/RV lot. A coffee shop/bicycle shop :-) We turned off the Alaska highway and onto the Cassiar Highway which will take us south, paralleling the coast of Alaska, but well inland. We found a wonderful little Canadian Provincial campground, Boya Lake. There are tons of these little campground gems around. This one was on the banks of the lake who's waters were crystal clear. Unfortunately, we got there too late to get a lakeside spot. Actually, we were lucky to get a spot at all. They have a little swimming dock that I eyed immediatly. The water looked SO inviting, especially after a very hot and uncomfortable d
