  Our approximate route . Our round trip was over 6100 miles or 9780 kilometers.  We arrived last night into St Augustine around 9:30pm. House still standing! Our friend Terry has been cutting our grass for us and it looked great! Our final day of travel was hot. There was no doubt we were back in the south. Temps in the back, the RV part, were over 100F. I had a little 12v fan pointed at me. It seemed to move air, unfortunately, the air was hot. The air conditioning in the front, the truck cab, was struggling with the heat. But, it was trying to cool off the whole rig, which it was not  designed to do. The rooftop AC unit works really well to cool off the living area. You need 110v for it to work ie, a generator or an extension cord.  We anticipated this and were not at all surprised.   The mountains were beautiful and scenic. It was a 12 + hour driving day. At least we are through most of the major urban areas. We chose the longer, less direct route around NY City, DC and Philadelphia. Turns out, LOTS of truckers take our route to avoid the costly tolls. Our route was definitely crowded with tractor trailers. Our little rig can really only comfortably go about 60-65 mph (slower going uphill!)  We made it back to our first campground on our trip in Fancy Gap, VA. We got here after dark. Hooked everything up, ate a quick meal and fell soundly asleep. Gotta love our huge comfy bed! Yep, its a king and super comfy! The day was mostly overcast with some drizzle and a thunder storm met us in Danbury when we arrived. We are at the Welcome Center for CT, beside the PA border. We are far enough away from I84 to not really be able to hear it. It's supposed to go down to 62F tonight so I think we will manage without AC.  All of the dogs love to cuddle between the front seats when we drive There's our little rig in between the big guys

When the ferry company changed our reservation date due to the bad weather, they did NOT give us a room like our original reservation. We did not have a room at all! I did not realize this until we were actually in line for the ferry and could not easily get out of line to leave. Besides, we were anxious to get south.  Amazing cheese burgers here at Rosie's in Port aux Basque, before we head to the ferry. So we boarded the crowded ferry. No berth for us. We did bring pillows and blankets, luckily. The marine forecast called for gale conditions with winds 35 knots, diminishing as the night wore on. This, of course, is less than ideal.
