Still in Danbury, CT, Monday, August 28, 2022

Still here in Danbury.  Click on the link to see where we are in real time via satellite: https://share.garmin.com/ winnefredmulligan We arrived 3 days ago on Friday evening and are still here through Monday evening. We checked into a different hotel, one that's even closer to the repair shop.  Our mechanic had a difficult time finding studs (or lugs?) to fit our rear dually wheels. He found 2 right away, but that didn't help us at all. We need a total of six. Both wheels share the studs, in other words, 2 wheels per stud, and 6 studs per wheel. They are being over-nighted and are supposed to arrive first thing in the morning. They say once they have them it will be no time at all to press the new studs in.  Again, fingers crossed.  We used the hotel shuttle to get back to the repair shop and convinced the driver to pick up our flat tire from where the RV is and drive us an extra mile to a tire repair shop. The shop for our RV does not do tires. Luckily, everything is close by

Danbury, CT, Trouble on I84

We are in a hotel in Danbury, CT. Just less than a mile from our RV. Our RV was towed to a repair shop Friday evening, August 26.  Check out our approximate route on Google Maps Click on the link to see where we are in real time via satellite: https://share.garmin.com/ winnefredmulligan We had an uneventful drive from Bethlehem, PA,  to the border with Connecticut. We crossed into CT at around 6pm and stopped at the Welcome Center there. They have free water and a free dump station so we took advantage! We were actually aiming for a truck stop just outside of Hartford, CT, about an hour away. When we realized we could dump and get water, the Welcome Center seemed like a great stop. We dumped our tanks, filled our water tank and both took hot showers! Nice! Then we dumped our tanks again and filled with water again. We had about an hour of daylight left so we decided to still move on to that truck stop for the night as planned.  All showered and refreshed, we got back on I84. After onl

Bethlehem, PA, the Old Bethlehem Steel Plant August 25 2022

this is our approx route on  Google maps   Click on the link to see where we are in real time via satellite: https://share.garmin.com/ winnefredmulligan We had an average night in a Home Depot parking lot. We thought we could stay at the casino that has taken over the old Bethlehem Steel plant. No dice. No overnight parking for RV's. Oh well... quick change of plans and a nearby Home Depot did the trick. This was our first night using our generator for air conditioning. Not so great. Adam had to get up a few times during the night as the generator was proving unreliable. It's a new generator, a Yamaha, so a reliable brand. Anyway, we left around 7am as customers starting filing into the parking lot. We drove to a nearby park to assess our situation.  Turns out, Adam had made a mistake in his calculations for adding oil to the generator. Damn metric system! you miss a decimal and ... long story short, generator working flawlessly! We headed to downtown Bethlehem for a late break

We Made it to Virginia

We pulled out around 7am, just in time to hit rush hour traffic in Jacksonville :-( We stayed off the interstates until just south of Charlotte. Then, we hopped on I77 all the way to VA and Fancy Gap. Fancy Gap is where we stayed last night in a lovely campground, Utts Family Campgroud. $35 for full hookups! When we arrived at 9pm, the temperature was 67F! so much cooler than we are used to!  Adam heated up some Kevin's Garlic Chicken- if you havent tried them, they are excellent! Available in most grocery stores, in Florida at least.  We both slept really well with the windows open.  This morning, I decided I would try tackling the campground driveway. This driveway is incredibly steep. I did it, but it wore me out! We were on the road by 10am.  The temp when w

St Johns, Newfoundland! Well, that's the plan at least! August 13, 2022

I have always wanted to drive to Newfoundland! It's a hike, no doubt! I have cousins up there that I really want to visit. I was there in 1990 (?) for one night and left to sail with my parents to Ireland the next morning. I didn't get to see much at all. I did see Signal Hill and I saw that the local McDonalds had Cod cheeks. I don't remember much else. My parents drove there in their VW Bus when I was still in diapers. I have no memory of that, but my parents had to deal with 3 of us in diapers on that trip. AND, disposable diapers weren't really around yet! Anyway, I booked ferry tickets a few months ago as we are considered "oversized" and cannot book via the web, we HAD to phone in our reservation. We got a call a month or so ago, asking if we would like a "pet friendly" room. Yes please! They are just starting to offer the pet friendly rooms, perfect for us! We have a new member to our little family, an 11lb Yorkie Mix female. Kiri. Adorable! L
