March 19, 2021, back in St. Augustine!

Image
We got home at around 12:30am. Click the image above to open in Google Maps We left New Orleans and headed east on Interstate 10. The humidity crept in and again we chased behind an eastern moving line of thunder storms. Luckily, it stayed in front of us.  We saw a lot more water. We finally crossed into Florida. The panhandle is very long. We needed to go all the way to the east coast of Florida. It was dark by the time we made it home to St. Augustine.  The next morning, we got up and went to our favorite coffee place: So nice to wake up at home! Our next task was to take our RV to get a badly needed oil change: All set! Until next time. Who knows where we'll end up.

New Orleans, LA March 18, 2021

We crossed into Louisiana.  Click on the image above to open in Google Maps The landscape changed a lot as we headed east. The desert landscape started having more tall trees. We could also feel the humidity start to increase.  So much road construction work We found a Buc-ees, yay! We were driving behind a huge weather front. We were both heading east. Luckily, we did not catch up to it.  We are the blue dot off to the left. We only saw a few sprinkles.  Sorry, a little blurry. We finally made it after a 45 min traffic jam on I10.  We pulled into Jude Travel Park . We hooked up and fell asleep quickly.  Can you see little Sheila's face? We woke up to a crisp and cool morning with bright sunshine and around 50F. We decided to attempt to drive to the French Quarter about 5 miles away. I know, probably crazy with our RV. Yep! we found a big enough parking spot right outside of a little cafe! We left New Orleans for the last leg of our trip back to St Augustine. We should be pulling

San Antonio, Texas

We pulled into San Antonio, TX, yesterday late afternoon. Click on the image above to open in Google Maps We got off to a 6am start to the day yesterday, March 16. We pulled into San Antonio around 5pm and were able to get the last spot in the Mission City RV Park , within San Antonio, but on the eastern side of it.  An early start for us   We ran out of gas in the middle of the Sonoran desert We made it to 2.4 miles of a gas station. Then, she died. No problem. Adam strapped our empty 5 gallon gas can to the back of his bike and was back in no time. Yay! This was all beautiful but a little monotonous.  The speed limit here is 80mph. We can only do 60-70. 70 when we are going down hill :-) So our times with Google Maps are a little skewed. We always arrive later than the time they give because we cannot go that fast. More time to enjoy the scenery! Here we are this morning, in San Antonio. We got the last spot they had and it was for a 40; rig. It was more expensive but we were tired.

El Paso and Van Horn, TX

Image
We reluctantly left Riverbend Hot Springs and headed for El Paso, TX. Adam has an Air Force buddy living there that we wanted to have lunch with.  Click above to see our route in Google Maps We met up with Adam's friend Juan and his girlfriend in El Paso and had a great lunch in a little Mexican place. They just had a baby 6 months ago so there was a lot to talk about. Juan does a lot of  great work in mental health for veterans. We got back on the road, Interstate 10, which we will be on all the way to Florida.  On to Van Horn, TX. We made a reservation at the Wild West RV Park.  Nice place. Very clean and tidy. We rode our bikes to RJ's Steak House and had a couple of delicious steaks! Not much else in Van Horn. Back to the RV and started a movie and quickly fell asleep.  This was an odd "Border" check. We never crossed into Mexico. More later! See our real-time location with our InReach from Garmin. Out location is updated automatically every 4 hours https://share
