2 -Finding Tires for a 1991 Toyota Winnebago
We didn't anticipate that much difficulty finding tires for our new RV. Turns out, no local Tampa/St. Pete tire dealers had them or could order them (!) They are a weird size that has apparently become pretty much obsolete. It seems that VW Vanagons use the same tires and that's about it. Because of the weight of the RV, the tires have to be able to handle the load. So not just any tires will work. According to our paperwork, it weighs 5440 lbs, unloaded. There's a sticker inside the driver's door with specifics on the exact tire size:
The problem is, no one has this size tire, 185R14 Everyone I called said I was missing a number, like, say 75. Nope. Not missing a number. That's the size. I finally found tires that would work. Good old Amazon Prime. Hankook makes the tires. After I found them on Amazon, I sent the link to a local Hankook dealer, and they could not even order them. Crazy. The local dealer suggested I order them through Amazon but have them shipped directly to their store. That's what we did. They arrived in a few days, and we brought her over and got her new tires.
Now it was time to take her to the Toyota dealer for the mechanical work.
