We got off to a late start. Just so hard to leave such an amazing place! Thanks Brenda & Ed!!!!

We were aiming for L'anse aux Meadows at the very tip of the Northern peninsula of Newfoundland.

What an amazing history! Incredible to believe that the Norse were in North America 1000 years ago!

The drive north was nothing short of spectacular.  We drove through the amazing mountain region of Gros Morne National Park. I took so many photos. It seemed like around every bend in the road was yet another spectacular vista!

On our way BACK to Port aux Basque, for our return ferry, we'll be stopping in Gros Morne.

On the iOverlander app, we found a spot for the night in a gravel area, just 1.5 miles from L'anse aux Meadows. The overnight spots on the app are recommended to others upon talking to locals etc, to make sure it's ok. Anyway, the last hour of our drive was a little un-nerving as it was in the dark. We have read, and been told, do not drive at night! There is a very real danger of hitting a moose. We slowed our speed down to 35mph and kept a vigilant eye out. Adam did see a moose in the middle of the road ahead!! I never saw it. Anyway, we slowed down and he disappeared into the woods as we approached. We eventually made it to our parking spot for the evening. We actually built a fire and sat outside for a bit. I was exhausted and went to bed before Adam.

We spent a very cozy night, while the temps outside went down to 47F! we were very comfy under the covers.

We woke, had some coffee then tidied up as some locals arrived with their chain saws to cut wood right beside us. Time to leave anyway!

the scenery was mountainous and amazing

After Gros Morne, the road takes us along the coast most of the rest of the way

Lovely fishing villages dotted the coast

We stopped for the night, and made a fire in our little portable fire pit, works pretty well!
