September 9, Driving Around St John's

We are currently in St John's now.

My cousin picked us up in his car and we proceeded to drive into the downtown area. So many colorful houses! I read that they are painted so colorfully so that when the fishermen came in from the sea, they could pick out their own house.
We drove out to Spear Point, the most easterly point of land in North America. There is a lighthouse here, actually, 2 lighthouses. A sort of newer one, and the older one that actually has a house or living quarters attached. Very interesting history. This was also the site of big guns pointed out to sea during WWII.

Then Gavin drove us to Quidi Vidi, a funny little town (?) within St John's thats probably most famous for it's microbrewery.

We stopped at Sandy Cove, a popular place for a bonfire. We watched the waves.Gorgeous.

We then went back to the RV to get ready for dinner at Mandy and Peter's house.
