We woke to a chilly morning. The wind was gusty and our whole RV was shuddering. We were very cozy and dry inside.
Coffee first, then we'll figure out what we are doing.
We decide to head to the actual historic site of L'anse aux Meadows.
So glad we brought warm clothes!
We were only a mile and a half away, so we were there in no time. There was an historic recreation of a Norse Village from the era the Vikings were likely there (about 1000 years ago.)
These local actors, portrayed the Norse and the way they would have lived day to day. Very interesting! This woman was spinning yarn from sheep's fur.
a replica of a church Leif Erikson built for his Mother in Greenland
inside the church
a Viking blacksmith shop
Next, we headed over to a little local restaurant
The Norseman restaurant
Our table looked out over the ocean. The restaurant supplied us with a pair of binoculars.
Adam had the seafood chowder
We shared the chili (tomato based, lots of tomato)
And I had the arugula salad. How did they manage this in the middle of nowhere at the top of the world??
We drove to St Anthony for gas and to dump our tanks
Then on south for a couple of hours.
We found a restaurant/convenience/gas store that allows you to stay the night in their parking lot. AND they have excellent Wifi. Perfect.
