We had a great sleep in the campground. Adam made burgers and we used a hamburger griller thingy to cook them over the fire. They turned out really well!
something like this:
Best part, clean up is a cinch!

The Iceberg beer is made from real icebergs!

Off to bed and it turned out to be kind of an early morning. Adam was up at 6am! I continued to sleep... Anyway, Adam took care of a couple of things before we took off.

First of all, our radio died... Not acceptable on such a long trip! Adam took apart most of the dash, and voila! the radio started working again!! yay!!

Then, Adam re-taped our awning. Tape seems to be holding it in place. We lost some of that tape on this trip, so he re-taped with Gorilla Tape.

That ladder is a telescoping ladder we strap to the bumper. It's come in handy a few times.

The mountains of Gros Morne, have softened into large hills. The road winds between them. So many rivers and lakes!

We arrive at the famous Gander International Airport
At one time, it was the largest airport in the world.

It was a pretty cool stop for us. The airport was like a museum, with exhibits showing it's history through the decades.

You can get fake boarding passes here :-)

Operation Yellow Ribbon (from Wiki)

On September 11, 2001, with United States airspace closed because of the terrorist attacks, Gander International played host to 38 airliners, totaling 6,122 passengers and 473 crew, as part of Operation Yellow Ribbon. Gander International received more flights than any other Canadian airport involved in the operation apart from Halifax. The 6,595 passengers and crew accounted for the third highest total of passengers that landed at a Canadian airport involved in the operation, behind Vancouver and Halifax.

Pretty cool history! worth looking it up.

We drove the 3 or 4 miles to the "Silent Witness" memorial. It was apparently, literally, in the spot the plane crashed. Lovely memorial, such a sad event.

We settled into Terra Nova National Park, Newman's Sound Campground. Adam went for a trail run, and I went for a nice shower.

Tomorrow we hope to get to St Johns, about a 3 hour drive. We're coming Ruth!!!
