I woke with a start at 4:45am. We needed to get on the road right away!
I made a couple of espresso's for Adam and myself. It was still drizzling slightly as we headed out.
Our drive followed the coastline for the most part and the scenery was beautiful! Unfortunately, still foggy and drizzly. Not too much traffic.
We eventually pulled into North Sydney, NS, and got straight in line for the ferry. Not late but slightly early. There were a few rows of commercial tractor trailers in a few separate lanes, a couple of lanes for RV's and camper trailers like us and a few more lanes for cars.
Our little motor home got a bit of warranted attention from the guys working there, trying to herd us all into the proper lanes. They were appropriately impressed and were generous with their compliments! Then, I was in the RV, Adam was outside (while we were still parked and waiting in line). A Japanese man approached Adam, he was very excited to see our Toyoto motor home! He recognized the truck but not the Winnebago on top of it. He seemed amazed!
We left the dogs on the RV for the ferry crossing, as we felt it was the best option. I gave the some Benadryl. Hopefully, they slept? Anyway, we are still crossing on the ferry, expecting landfall in Newfoundland at 6:15pm, Newfoundland time.

We arrived on-time in Port aux Basque. Wow! we actually made it!!!
We drove off the ferry and pulled off the road to a grassy area and let the dogs run around.
We hit the road without delay to make it to my cousin Brenda's house in Steady Brook, on the west coast of Newfounland.
We arrived around 10pm to a wonderful reception. Hugs all around!
We hadnt realized it, but it was not only Brenda's birthday, it was also her and Ed's anniversary!
An amazing catered 3 course meal awaited us! There were little skewers of bear meat (!!!).  Exquisitely cooked filet mignon and roast carrots and mashed potatoes. Incredibly delish!! what a nice surprise for us!! We were honored to meet some of Brenda and Ed's closest friends and had a spectacular evening!
I wish I had taken photos!

Wifi was non-existent on the ferry. I think they put up this sign to make people think the wifi worked :-(

we actually got a window!

our tiny little ferry shower, actually excellent temp and excellent pressure!

arriving in Port aux Basque Harbor 6:15pm, Newfoundland time
