"Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company" - Mark Twain

Crossing the mighty Mississippi

We drove along the banks of the Mississippi for a lot of our drive today.

We stopped at a little pull-off. Toyota Winnebagos' don't have the modern heat insulation that cars of today have. I read where some owners will open the hood when they stop to allow the heat to dissipate.  So don't worry, there's nothing wrong with Winnefred :-)

Adam took Liam & Sheila for a little leg stretch at the pull-off.

What? 2 sailboats! Acually looks like the other boat used to be a sailing catamaran and someone took the mast off.

We pulled into Hannibal, MO, just as it was getting dark.

We decided to try a local brewery for a very late dinner. It was after 9pm when we arrived at the brewpub/restaurant, Mark Twain Brewery. The bartender accidentally poured a second round for us so we ended up getting 2 rounds for the price of one, sweet! the food was just ok, but you really can't expect much when you arrive just before they close the kitchen.

We didn't get to the Walmart in Hannibal until after midnight. It's a 24 hour Super Center. I walked inside and asked if we could stay the night. No problem ;-).
We had an uneventful but sound night's rest. It was cool outside (upper 60's?) and very humid.
The next morning, we did a bit of Walmart shopping, bought some gas at the adjacent Murphy's USA gas and hit the road. We were tempted to stay a little longer last night, but when we woke up this morning, we both just wanted to hit the road and get farther north.

Sheila Weela and Liam Neeson wanted to sleep in.

Back on the road. On our way to Iowa.
Can you see the banner stretched across the road?

It's our photo of the day:

We stopped at a grocery store along the way. YES! they have wifi and it reaches into the parking lot. The only phone service we're getting is just that, phone only. We've been on the road for 4 hours and that's pretty much all we're getting. We can make calls, but no data. Maybe it's 2G or something? Anyway, I thought I'd take this opportunity to post.
