38 - June 29, 2018, We're Taking a Detour for July 4th, Seward, Alaska & Our Garmin InReach Tracker

We decided we would try to make it to Seward, AK, for the Fourth of July. Then we'll head up to Tuktoyaktuk, NT, Canada. Looks like they do a big celebration in Seward and they have city-owned RV campsites right on the waterfront. Not sure if we'll be early enough to get a spot, but we'll try. They don't take reservations. First come, first served.

Also, if you're reading on your phone, you may not have noticed the link to our Garmin tracking site. We have a Garmin In-Reach satellite tracker. It pings our location automatically every 4 hours and plots it on a map shared online. We started it as soon as we crossed into Canada. Click on that link whenever you're curious about our current location.

We pulled out of the Eagle River Casino parking lot around 6:30am, heading for Liard Hot Springs.
We crossed into British Columbia and a sea of trees and mountains all around us.

A herd of Caribou. Kind of far away though.

We've seen lots of Moose crossing signs, but no moose, yet.

So many trucks carrying tons and tons of freight. Trucks towing 2 and 3 trailers at a time (100'+?) are very, very common.

Right after this photo, we went down a 10% grade. Winnefred's a champ!
